Leadership
Hi everyone!
Today after "5 days off"
visiting Konstanz to see people who I care, I came back to the reality again,
my master.
Probably you do not know but I am studying
International business management master in Carinthia (Austria). As management
study, today I had a very interesting master class in Leadership by Mr.Sternad
(one of the best professor I ever had).
The topic was learning and developing
others. Many of you maybe do not know what Leadership is. We can find plenty of
definitions in Internet but today I learnt one that I really liked it:
"A two-way, reciprocal relationship
that influences both individuals and the organisation as a whole. It is about
how to build the confidence in someone´s else"
So as not to get to deeply in every single
detail I would like just to point out what I found more interesting and
inspiring in order to improve yourself.
- Building confidence to others. Not everyone has
self-confidence as a skill. A good leader may be able to develop in other
people.
- Listening to others. On your way of leadership
you might bump into people who are unmotivated or do not have a direction
in his day-a-day. Therefore, the real leader must be able to listen, in
first instance, to those people who need help. Even more, that is not just
suitable in those cases, everyone has the need of being listened. If we
are able to listen other, we increase our likelihood to figure out what is
going on inside other´s mind, what is valuable for them, what could be
motivating for them, and so on and so forth.
- Analyze the situation. There are many styles that
a good leader can adapt or performance. Nonetheless, we must analyze first
how is the environment that surrounds us in order to adapt ourselves in
the best way to success. Success is being able to transmit people your
ideas, your direction of achieving your goals, to communicate and
performance 100%.
- Emotions. Everyone start their reaction and
behaviours from their emotions. So if we want to influence others or
motivate them we must try to figure out what are their feelings in order
to use them to encourage them to get the right direction.
To conclude today´s session I would like
to have a mention to the opportunity. There is a equation that I learnt today
which is Performance = motivation x ability + opportunity. So, if you want to
performance or try to develop yourself you must get an opportunity and carry
through it. Besides, you should analyze before whether you have the motivation
to do it or the skill. In addition, if you do not have the courage to implement
it you will never know if you are capable of or not. Therefore, I am writing
this blog, to check myself, to see if I am able to overcome my weakness of
writing my ideas in another language.
