The Art of Failure
What doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger… familiar, isn’t it? Quite true though!
"There is only one thin that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure." Paulo Coelho
Our lives are full of experiences, which some of them might be more pleasant than others. It is easy to acknowledge that successful stories bring you satisfaction and kind words to speak up in front of your audience. However, one day I learnt a master class that I will not ever forget: resilience skills make greater leaders.
What a true lesson! As we do have success stories, we do also have downsides, caveats that can burry you deep into negativity and demotivation. I recognize that failure can be sometimes painful, frustrating I would say. That’s life, we are not going to success every single time we try something new or we challenge ourselves, let’s assume it. Nonetheless, what matters is not how many times you failed or how big the mistake was but what you’ve learnt from it and the ability of moving forward despite the waves.
Did you know that J.K. Rowling got rejected from many book publishers for her first Harry Potter book? Or Walt Disney got fired due to “lack of imagination”? Check out their failure stories that made them stronger.
1. Conversate – Be Social. You are not alone in life. You’ve got family, friends, colleagues, social media, a community, your team…Ask other’s opinions. We are not perfect. Asking for help doesn’t hurt. Expressing your feelings and concerns can open conversations with your network that can bring viable solutions or awake something in your head that you never thought about.
2. Always consider alternatives – the well-known Plan B. Be prepared for failure by always putting into the bag diverse ways of reaching the same outcome.
3. Be resilient. You will never be ready if you never fail in something. Being trapped by what went wrong will never bring you back a solution. Try to move forward, raise your head and make sure that what you did wrong never happen again and find new ways of avoiding the same thing happens.
Learning by doing can get you intro trouble or make you experience a downside in your life – what a depressive situation, isn’t it? What if instead you looking at the dark side you look at the beauty of it?
I encourage you to always face new challenges, take responsibilities and experience because I ensure you one thing: the result is always a lesson that it’s going to make you stronger!
